6 months!

My baby boy is 6 months old today! For the first time in 3 kids I'm not a little bit sad seeing him grow up so fast, I'm thrilled that he's doing so well and thriving after such a rough start. He had his 6 month appointment today and he is.... wait for it.... 16 lbs 15 oz! And 26.5 inches! I cannot believe he is that big.
Almost rolling... can't. quite... make it...
The doctor and the nurse were both shocked today that I am still pumping and haven't had to supplement with formula. Like, mouths hanging open, speechless shocked. I was surprised but they said they NEVER see anyone go this long and the nurse even said it was a miracle I'd been able to keep my supply up. That made me feel good! 6 months was one of my goals, and my next one is 12! I am so happy and relieved I've been able to do it, and I feel like it I'm past the hardest parts and it shouldn't be too bad from here on out. Truthfully it's been one of the hardest things I've ever done, but SO worth it!

The doctor also said he was perfect and healthy, and happy that he's only had 1 ear infection when he predicted one per month when he was born. I told him I was concerned he wasn't eating solid food very well, but he said he'd be fine JUST having milk until a year, and I should just think of any solid food I'm able to get him to eat as "dessert." He actually does pretty well if I make the purees really thin, almost like a smoothie.
He has ridiculous hair! It's a mop of curls on top and not much on the back and sides! But I love it. Everyone always comments on it - my cousin Nick says he has Kramer (from Seinfeld) hair! He is happy and smiley all day long, although just in the past day or two he seems like he's developing a little stranger anxiety and looks around for me when someone is holding him.

I can't even believe I'm writing this about MY child, but for about the past 2-3 weeks he has been sleeping 11+ hours/night! The other two did not do that until 11 months or so. I am so thrilled about this! I'm able to go 8 hours without pumping at night (every 3 hours during the day), so I've been getting some good sleep too.
My absolute favorite part of the day is in the morning. I wake up to pump around 6, then he gets up around 6:30 and I bring him in our bed for a bottle. I feed him and then he cuddles up with me, holds my hands and puts his head next to mine and we both fall back asleep for about an hour. It. is. heaven. I love it so much.
He is such a wonderful special baby and I love him so much. His brother and sister love him too. He brings such joy to our family. I kiss those cheeks all day long. Happy half birthday Leo, we LOVE you!
