Big Girl Walk
Lately Madeleine has wanted to do everything "all by herself." (Except go to the potty, but that's another story.) She's also been staying up later at night since it's so light in her room when we try to put her to bed. So the other night, I had the brilliant idea of taking a walk, and letting her walk by herself. (Gotta wear this girl out!) We laid down the rules at the beginning of the walk, since she had never been allowed in the street before. We told her that she had to stay right next to us, and if she saw a car or heard a car she had to hold our hands. She did fabulous following the rules. We live on a very quiet street in the middle of a quiet neighborhood, so we probably saw 2 cars the whole time. No one even comes down our street unless they live on it. We walked all the way around the block, which is a long way for those short little legs! She had a great time and talked about it the whole next day. She stopped and looked at flowers, and different things we found on the street (like a rope?) She saw the dogs and birds and people's houses. I hope we make this a summer tradition!

Too cute! Thanks for the sneak preview last night! :)
I just want to eat him up!
I love him so much!!!!
And M looks so tall and thin. She's got places to be!! ha ha.
Glad ya'll had a great walk and that's a great idea to tire her out.
your kiddies are just too cute!!!!
Love those pictures. The real question is did it work? How did she sleep? In one of our homes we hung black towels from the window at night. It looked tacky but boy did they sleep. :)
I was just thinking too that he is going to be a chubby baby! I love that filled out look he has and he looks so peaceful! I bet he never cries:)
All by self....we get that a lot here too. It's a blessing, but sometimes, a curse. You cannot pour the milk all by self! Just let me do it!!!!
Too cute. And he is filling out nicely! I love it!
One of my favorite things as a Mommy is taking walks with the little ones and "explore". With the older ones it is taking walks to talk. I love the pics they are both so darlin!
That's great! We're working on getting the LG to keep her hand on a certain spot on the car when we get out in a parking lot. Between streets and parking lots....oi....I'm not usually a paranoid parent, but yikes!
We do this too. Although Zach has to take his little lawn mower along to keep him focused! (or he wanders too much) Its cute. He gets neighbors asking him to come cut their grass. :)
Cute pictures!
Taking a walk after supper is one of my favorite things to do! And, as an added bonus, it certainly does help them get "tired out"!
With many kids in tow, we had to led them do their own walking a long time ago... I agree, it's awfully scary, but it's worth it to see the joy in their faces as they discover "treasures" (rocks, bugs, cool leaves) along the side of the road.
