Religion class

For Madeleine's religion this year, we read a bible story on one day, then the next day she retells it to me in her own words and illustrates it in her bible book. Here is what she told me to write today after hearing the story once. Is this normal?? I was very impressed!

Maggie's are a third of that! But given M's amazing reading ability, I say that's perfect! Where's her pic?

You really do have a very gifted girl on your hands there! BTW, I absolutely love dictation! We do it once a week now with either the boys' history or religion studies. They are building their very own "textbook" via these dictations (and copywork)--it's so beautiful, I could cry with pride. :)

Haha! When I asked Eliot to narrate his history chapter today, it sounded like this, "So... some guys write on clay tablets and then some do hieroglyphs. They live somewhere else..." LOL. M's narration looks fantastic!!!

I will say that Eliot randomly remembered that Thoth was the Egyptian god of the moon, and I didn't believe him until he pulled out the book we read once last week where it is mentioned in passing. Kids have such weird brains!!!

That is a great narration! Isaac has always struggled with that, but he'll pull out random facts from things he's heard in books on CD. He listens to them a lot, so he can recite some things verbatim. It's so fun seeing what the kids will come up with next.
