Curls

I think Madeleine has the most beautiful curls I have ever seen! (I MAY be a little biased... I'll admit it!) However, people comment on them all the time. And I've already told Ken that if the boy has curls like this, we aren't cutting them off until Kindergarten, and even then it'll depend on the dress code!

Have you ever heard the song "Here's your Sign." Lyrics are here. It was out on the country music stations around when I was in college I think. Go read it! It's actually funnier when you see the video, but you get the picture.

So several times in the last year seemingly intelligent people have asked me "Are her curls natural?" I really want to say, "No, I chase my wiggly toddler around with a tiny little curling iron every day. Here's your sign."

Now, my Grandma asks this every time we see her, but she's 90 so it's ok. She also always says several times that I'm so lucky that I had a girl, which is especially funny when my dad is there! It's not her I'm talking about.

So today we were at Barnes and Nobles, and an acquaintance came up to me and said, "Oh did you get Madeleine a perm?"

Here's your sign.

Cute! Funny!

Here's your sign!

Like the lady in the fabric store that asked me how old my baby was!? I'm just the nanny lady, here's your sign! ;) Not as obvious as perming a toddler's hair but I don't care. ;)

that's hilarious!!!

my favourite "here's your sign" moment was when i went to vote with my best friend. my hubby was out in the hallway with her son and our neighbour (who lives TWO doors down) asked mr. jb if my best friend's son was ours.

mr. jb looked at him and then at the baby, and said, "uh no dave, he's our friend's kid."

you see, i'm asian, mr. jb is half irish andn half polish. my friend's baby is pale, blonde and blue eyed. there is now way that her kid could even look close to what our kids would look like! AND he lives two doors down. did he think that i could hide a pregnant belly from him????

btw, mr. jb has naturally curly hair. i really hope that the future jellybellies have curly hair too!

That's so funny! Isabella's hair usually naturally flips out, and people ask me all the time if I "curl it that way"! I always laugh to myself as I try to imagine taking a curling iron to her hair!

ok well, how about do you dye their hair red. How many boys dye their hair and at 6 for that matter? Although that is usually DH's answer when asked where the red hair comes from. DG (the 6 year old) says he stood in the rain too long. Here are your signs.

Very funny, I can't believe someone would actually believe you would or even COULD perm a toddlers hair..cracking up right now!

That comedian is so funny! He does a whole bit on one of his comedy shows (I've seen it on t.v.). There are so many "sign" moments ... ha ha! (It's just too early for me to think of one right now!)

The sad part is that there ARE people out there so concerned with wanting to "impress" with their children's looks, that they WOULD chase their kid around with a curling iron, or worse, PERM them!! My aunts used to bleach my cousins' hair from the time they were like 5, I kid you not, because I was the cousin with natural blond hair and they were jealous. Ridiculous!!
(And now as adults, what do you think they look like? Thaaaat's right. Olive-complexioned Italians with bleach-white hair. Reeeeeeal attractive.)

Ya know, I've noticed that M's lips are so cute and pouty. Did you get her Botox?

How cute would it be if your son had the same curls, i bet people will ask you if there twins, even thoug they will obviously be different ages!

That song is funny. I think I'm going to make up a few signs and carry them around with me -just in case :)
