We've been cloth diapering for almost 6 months now, but I had never tried it at night.
We used a Snug to fit supreme over a prefold folded in thirds, and two doublers. Over all that was a wool cover that I knitted from Malabrigo Yarn. It's SOOO soft. You'd think wool would be scratchy on a baby, but it's not. It's really soft. And surprisingly, wool does all kinds of good things. Who knew?
More benefits of wool.
Well, it actually worked! All the cotton was wet in the morning but the wool (and her sheets) were perfectly dry! I couldn't believe it myself. Maybe I'll try it again sometime.

Man! That is one big diaper!
Valorie makes wool diaper covers. If you want some more, try to get ahold of her or you could get the knit pattern and make some. That is a great picture, especially when her first boyfriend looks through her baby pictures!
I haven't checked your links yet, but I'm doubting wool would do much for Charles' skin - sensitive little man that he is!
Hilarious! We have pictures that look a lot like that (only no pink!). I always felt bad when he couldn't bend when he was moving around before bed, but you have to stuff it full to last all night!! We've abandoned the nighttime diapering lately, but I'd like to start again. Maybe we'll commission you for some cool wool covers!
HUMUNGOUS!
No, honey, the camera adds ten pounds. And when you only weigh 18, that's a HUGE difference.
;)
That is so funny!!
I so admire you for doing cloth diapers!
May I ask, do you use a dry or wet diaper pail? And what do you wash them with? Just wondering to see if I can improve on my method...
I realized I said we abandoned nighttime diapering...makes it sounds like we put our kids to bed with nothing on their bums!! That's not the case, not surprisingly... :)
My .02 for Erin K: We use a dry pail at our house (no need for a wet pail, in my research), and we wash with Allens Naturally (mail order...although I know you can get stuff in the store. Just don't use All Free and Clear -- we did mistakenly for too long and now have major detergent build-up.)
In response to your comment at my place...
We use Kushies Ultra AIO. They have been pretty good, but we have to be very diligent with changing. He is just about outgrowing the "infant" size (10 to 22 lbs) and I'm thinking about what to get for him next. It sounds like a lot of people don't like AIOs, so maybe I'll try something different.
We use a dry pail (a recent switch) and wash with my regular Sunlight detergent with a boost of either vinegar or Borax.
Dude! That diaper is ginormous! But I am in awe of your bravery. I'm still scared to use cloth at night, especially when I feel how heavy the disposable is in the morning!!
Also, if you could somehow bottle her sleeping habits and send some our way - we'll take it!
That big ole' fat diapered baby butt is how my kids butts looked after I double diapered them for the night in flats, pins, and rubber pants. Enjoyable blog.
Barb.
