Last Bradley Class

We had our last class on Tuesday night. It was kind of sad (for me, not for Ken!) Hopefully we will be prepared. We watched a video on breastfeeding, and they made it look pretty complicated. Surely it can't be that hard. We are really going to have to practice our relaxation. I can't believe it's January 18 already!
I really hope that I can do a natural birth. We went to the doctor today and Baby is measuring just a little small. They said they would wait until my next appointment in two weeks, and if she isn't growing, they will do another ultrasound to make sure everything is ok. But her heartbeat was great, they said my weight gain and blood pressure were great too. And she is moving around all the time so the doctor said there is nothing to worry about. Anyone else experienced this?

Mom and I got the cradle set up yesterday. It's been used by all my cousins, me and my brother, and all everyone's kids. Dad fixed it up and it looks beautiful!

Okay, I don't want to discourage you in any way. I just want to be honest, because no one was with me and I was shocked. Breastfeeding can be very difficult. Not always, some babies are pros from day one and it is smooth sailing. But that is not always the case. It might be hard for you, but it is worth it. It took me 4 kids to figure that out, but I'm so glad I stuck with it with Monster for a year--it was a great experience after the initial difficulties. So, just wanted to be honest with you and share my real-life experience.
You can do it and it can be great. Good luck with the natural delivery too.
And guesses about weights are not always accurate. My son was supposed to be huge and only weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces. I'm sure she's fine.

Get lots of support for breastfeeding. Make sure your husband is on board and serious about it and make sure you see someone IN the hospital about it. Make sure you feel good about it BEFORE you leave the hospital. And if you don't, refuse to leave until they send you someone that is truly helpful to you. Our last baby was a pro at it, but I really had to have help with the second baby. He was so lazy and if I didn't have the support I needed, I would have just given up.

Good luck on your natural childbirth and God bless!

Breastfeeding can be hard at first. Don't be afraid to ask the nurses in the hospital if baby is latched on properly. Once you are rolling then it is the easiest and most wonderful experience, well worth the difficult beginning!
