So I don't forget

What the kids said when they told them they were going to have a baby sister:

Madeleine got a huge smile on her face and said, "God answered my prayer!!"
Then,
"Can we get the baby baptized in church??"

John Paul first said, "I want a boy!"
Then, "can I hold her?" and "is she going to come out of your tummy today??"
Then later he said, "I put Baby Sister in mommys tummy!"
And Madeleine said, "no, God did!"

And we all celebrated with strawberry cupcakes!!!

It's a......

Beautiful baby girl!!!!!

Vacation bible school

We are all having a great time! I got there yesterday and they made me a "lead teacher" of crafts. It is working out pretty well so far!
Leo had kind of a hard time being in the nursery yesterday so he stayed with Grandma today. John Paul is having a great time in the nursery! They feed them snacks, take them outside to play, do crafts, and go to story time. They have so many teens in there's it's pretty much one on one!
He did miss me today so came to "help" for the last 2 classes. Tomorrow is green day!

Father Dominic!

Leo's godfather got ordained a priest on Saturday! So proud of him and happy for our Church!!
Madeleine and I went with mom and Jenny and had a girls day out :)

Madeleine waved to Deacon Dominic on the way in and we all received one of his first blessings. The next day we all went to his first mass and reception. What a great weekend!!

Good report!

We had madeleines post op appointment today. The doctor says she is doing great and there's a huge improvement. Her eyes focus straight ahead and her depth perception is perfect. She was a tiny bit more nearsighted than last time but she said that happens with the healing process and she will get back to normal in a few weeks. She doesn't have to go back until the fall and them not until the next summer! So glad these two surgeries are behind us!

In other news we found slugs and some kind of giant white beetle in the garden today. I scooped em out and the kids stared at them and picked them up with sticks for about two hours. I got my whole kitchen cleaned, mopped and put away all the laundry! Thank you slugs!!

Working for the weekend

So a friend gave me the genius idea of putting music on and everyone cleans for a half hour. John Paul always requests Beatles radio on pandora and we have a great time! This morning Jp mopped and picked up and M picked up the screened porch. I cleaned the kitchen, got BBQ short ribs in the crock pot, baked a loaf of bread, folded all the laundry and organized the school stuff. I think this will be a great routine to get into! It's fun for all of us and the house is getting into shape :)

The doctor said she did great, no crying, chatting about her brothers until she went to sleep :)

So I have access to a computer finally!

Just for tonight though - it's Ken's work computer.  But I'll post a little update since I've been a horrible blogger lately.

Madeleine has to have a minor eye surgery on Friday.  We've known for a few years she has needed it.  Her eyes wander out when she is very tired, and we tried some treatment but there was no difference.  So since we knew we'd pay our max out of pocket for the year this year because of Leo's surgery, we decided to schedule it after his recovery.  We are actually going to do any medical thing we can think of this year!  (Including giving birth!)  I have explained what will happen to her and she seems ok with it, but I don't think she understands that she might not feel well or her eyes might hurt for a few days.  Ken and I are actually worried she might not even do as well with it as Leo did with his surgery after an incident with a splinter in her foot the other night.  I also now think she will get an epidural at 1 cm when she has a baby ;)
Really though, it should be pretty minor.  We get there at 7, surgery is at 8, and it takes about 45 minutes.  The doctor is awesome, and she said we can go home within an hour or two after she wakes up.  She said she will be back to normal in a few days and her only restriction is no swimming for 2 days.  I think we can handle that after going through Leo's in March!  But anyway, say some prayers for her on Friday!

A lady from church offered to give us her swingset that her kids have outgrown.  We went and saw it today and my kids were in heaven!  It has two swings, a tire swing, a great slide and clubhouse, a hanging bar and even a place to put a baby swing.  It's so nice!  And our friend who is a builder is going to help Ken move it and set it up (say some prayers for them too!)  It is going to be so nice!  We have a small swingset now that was given to us a few years ago but the kids have outgrown it and it moves whenever they swing on it, so this will be a nice upgrade!

Leo is doing fantastic, eating well, and even trying to say a few words!  It is so awesome to hear him talk.  I'm so proud of him.  Ken says all the time we owe him so much, and someday when he dents the car or something like that he is gonna look at him and say, "Ok, we're even."  :)  He really made this whole thing so easy on us.

I'm SO enjoying not having to pump anymore.  I'm praying so hard that I never have to break out the pump again.  The baby seems to be doing well and was wiggling around during the last ultrasound.  I scheduled my next appointment for 6/22, I get an ultrasound then and I"ll be 15 weeks so they SHOULD be able to tell if it's a boy or girl.  I cannot wait to find out!  Neither can Madeleine.  She is going to Vacation Bible School that week, and I volunteered for the whole week, so that should be a lot of fun!

John Paul just recently decided that he didn't want to wear diapers to bed anymore.  I don't trust him as far as I can throw him and I don't want to change sheets every day so we bought him a pack of pullups.  He is loving his new freedom and seems to have to go potty about every 5 minutes during nap and the first hour or so after we put him to bed.  Hopefully that settles down soon.  He has done a great job of keeping dry though!  (A few wet pullups but not bad.)

We planted strawberries in pots on our deck and the kids love going out every morning to see if there are any strawberries to eat!  We also planted a vegetable garden and a butterfly flower garden, and they enjoy watering them every day.  I am loving this weather and we spend lots of time outside!  I'm sure with the new swingset we'll be out there even more :)

Ok so right now we have all 3 kids in separate rooms, and I love it.  But eventually Leo and John Paul are going to share a room and I'm very nervous about that.  I'm thinking that we will keep the baby in our room for 6 months or so, then transfer Leo to the bottom bunk next summer when he's around 2 1/2, and John Paul to the top bunk when he's 4.  NOT looking forward to that but I knew it was gonna happen sooner or later.  I really like the kids to have at least an hour of quiet time during the day after lunch, and Leo naps during that time.  I'm thinking naps and quiet time might be a thing of the past.  But M reads her books and plays legos in her room, JP plays and looks at books in his room.  I hate to lose this downtime for everyone (me included!)  Any suggestions from you experienced moms of multiple kids?  :)

So I'm 10 weeks and 4 people have asked me if I'm pregnant.  My belly is huge and there is only ONE baby in there.  Is it just me or are those people taking their lives into their own hands going around asking people if they're pregnant??

Before I forget

When I took M to the Easter Vigil, we walked outside at the beginning to light the Easter candle. The K of C grand knights walked by and it was really quiet. Madeleine said real loud, "look grandma! Pirates!!"

It happens quick.

So this blog has been super boring lately....

Maybe this will liven it up ;)

So not having a working computer

Is really throwing a wrench into my blogging. Ken ordered a new keyboard for my laptop though so hopefully we will be back to normal posting soon.

So while Leo is eating like a normal toddler (praise God!) he has been becoming picky lately. He just spits things out he doesn't like. Any tips to get some good food in him?
